Abstract

The article examines potential problems with peer review and what journals can do to address them. Topics discussed include impact of poor-quality reviews on editors, factors that influences editorial decisions, and tactics that journals should implement to improve the quality of peer reviews which includes making the process more systematic and consistent by using feedback forms, checklists or scorecards and conducting reviewer training sessions.
