Abstract
- The article discusses the depictions of race and the pushing of the boundaries of Victorian gender structures in the Dime novels of Ann Sophia Winterbotham Stephens published by the House of Beadle and Adams. Topics include the characteristics of Stephens's dime novels which was concerned with social reform and a strict moral code and depictions of race and gender in Stephen's novels like "Malaeska, Indian Wife of the White Hunter" and "The Indian Queen".
