3 Dimensional ordered macroporous FTO electrode decorated with CdxZn1−xS photocatalyst for improved photocurrent generation.

Abstract

mac-FTO (ordered macroporous fluorine doped tin oxide) films were fabricated on FTO glass as structured substrates for supporting Cd x Zn 1−x S photocatalysts. A series of Cd x Zn 1−x S (x = 1–0.2) photocatalysts were decorated on the mac-FTO film via simple in-situ deposition. Through the manipulation of Cd:Zn atomic ratios, photoelectrochemical results show that the optimized Cd x Zn 1−x S@mac-FTO electrode generates photocurrent density up to 9 mA cm −2 under visible light at 0 V vis. V Ag/AgCl . The larger surface area in comparison to planar FTO electrode and the improved conductivity in comparison to macroporous semiconductor electrodes are realized as an increase in photocurrent support.
