Moisture-associated skin damage (MAD) is a term that has been introduced in order to determine the number of skin lesions caused by long-term exposure to moisture on the skin. This kind of change on the skin, caused by the prolonged contact with urine, stool, sweat, exudate, often occur in hospitalized patients. On the other hand, this problem is rarely presented in Polish medical publications. Very often the skin damage associated with moisture are confused by doctors and nurses with pressure ulcers.
