Abstract
- Tomato late blight (Phythophthora infestans), is among the most dangerous diseases of tomatoes grown in greenhouse conditions, but also in the open field. In Kosovo, this disease appears every year and poses a serious threat to tomato production in greenhouses. The purpose of this study was to investigate the spread of the disease in five tomato hybrids (Izmir, Amati, Shahmat, Jabuqar and Arigato) grown in greenhouse conditions. For these investigations, during vegetation period of 2015-2016 in a private greenhouse with an area of 0.2 ha, with a great care were taken leaves of tomato plants, of all hybrids, with signs of disease caused by the pathogen Phythophthora infestans. The samples for analysis were taken in the greenhouse where the tomato hybrids were cultivated, every week from the beginning of June until the end of September, while the results were expressed in every 10 days as a sampling date. To determine the presence of the disease the samples were brought to the laboratory and tested on nutrition media (nutrition agar and potato dextrose agar). Based on the results obtained regarding the presence of the disease it was shown that the hybrid Shahmat was more susceptible against tomato late blight while the hybrid Izmir was less susceptible and less affected by this disease. After statistical analysis of the research results through analysis of variance (ANOVA), statistical differences were observed at different levels of significances regarding the tomato hybrids (Factor A), the type of nutrition media (Factor B) and their interactions (AxB).
