Abstract
- The article discusses the use of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and other alternative methods to study the effects of medical treatments, and it mentions resistance to RCTs based on ethical grounds, treatments for diseases such as AIDS, and information about patients' treatment expectations. Uncontolled research studies and the Cardiac Arrhythmia Suppression Trial (CAST) are examined, along with the 2014-2015 Ebola Virus Disease epidemic and AIDS activists' views.
