Abstract

The article discusses need of proper allocation rules for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma awaiting a liver transplant. It states that incidence of both cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma has been increasing worldwide, citing liver transplantation as a potential curative option for the conditions, and mentions significance of the Model of End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) score. It notes that MELD may improve equitability in access to liver transplantation.
