Based on the themes presented at the III International Meeting on the History of Nursing, organized by the Portuguese Society for the History of Nursing, and at the International Nurses' Day celebrated by the Union of Portuguese Nurses, the author expresses concerns and uncertainties about some challenges that are related to the delegation of competencies and the increasing use of robotics, telehealth and the health information systems in the provision of nursing care.
