Abstract

This section offers news briefs on public health around the world as of October 2017. Officials from more than 140 countries attended the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury convened by United Nations Environmentin Geneva. The World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF have introduced an initiative to promote early childhood development. The WHO has released a report on efforts to control noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).
