Abstract

[Objective ] The present paper aimed to study the spatial variability of soil nutrients under different terrain and topography conditions. [Method ] Classical statistics combined with Geostatistics were applied to analyze the spatial variability of soil nutrients in different terrain and direction of Zhongxiang city. [Result] The coefficient of variation of soil organic matter, available P and available K in different terrain were between 23. 79 % and 69.78 % and belonged to moderate variation; All data were normally distributed after Box-Cox transformation. Soil nutrient content in the hills was higher than that in the plain. The spatial correlation of soil organic matter in plains was greater than that in hills. The spatial correlation of available P in eastern part was greater than that in the western part, but the available K was opposite. The results indicated that the spatial variability of soil nutrients in horizontal and vertical direction variation patterns were not uniform even in the same terrain and river basin, which was caused by both natural environment and human factors. [Conclusion]The spatial variation of soil nutrient in the horizontal and vertical directions was not uniform, especially in the hilly watershed with variable geographical conditions. The spatial variability of nutrients was influenced by natural faetors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
