Abstract

The fluorescent carbon based materials have wide medical applications due to their less toxicity, and other attractive properties. Bamboo leaves are an interesting alternative precursor for fluorescent carbon synthesis. They have a good prospect as sustainable raw materials. The synthesis of fluorescent carbon from bamboo leaves by partial oxidation is performed at an optimum temperature of 300°C. Its photoluminescent property is measured by a spectrofluorometer. It shows a wavelength emission at 425 nm - 475 nm. The fluorescent carbon obtained has nanoparticles of the size about 4 nm based on the analysis using atomic force microscopy. It shows a peak at 22,7° by X-Ray diffractometer powder analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
