Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze symbolic violence in the experiences of lesbians highlighting the work. To this end, we treat theoretically of symbolic violence as Pierre Bourdieu and brought a discussion about lesbophobia in society and work, as well as stereotypes and invisibility surrounding this experience. Then, we interviewed six lesbians in Juiz de Fora oral history by emphasizing their professional careers and treat the data through thematic analysis of qualitative content. Considering the work, symbolic violence are extremely subtle and occur as in the case of internalization of heteronormativity and silence about sexuality, warnings with norms of behavior, and indirect comments that refer to the stigma associated with lesbians in their daily lives. Thus, it is important a critical discussion aiming a real acceptance and inclusion of differences in society and in organizations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
