Abstract

The author discusses fertility treatment policies that could help enhance affordability and outcomes and benefit both patients and the public. Topics include the practice of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) which is associated with increased risk of multifetal gestational, the high cost of fertility treatment without insurance coverage, and how fertility treatment policy in the U.S. through insurance coverage and legislative efforts could help reduce multiple births and improve birth outcomes.
