Abstract
- The article discusses the author's claim that Washington, D.C. is not prepared to handle a major hurricane as of 2017, and it mentions the impact that a hurricane could have on the American federal government and national security. The damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida is addressed, along with the possibility that a large hurricane could cripple the government agencies that are designed to protect the U.S. The Potomac River and the dangers associated with flooding and heavy rainfall are assessed. Flood-proofing procedures are also mentioned.
