Abstract

Sertaconazole is a third generation imidazole-type antifungal agent, is one of the most recent imidazole members, with a wide spectrum that includes: dermatophyte, yeasts type Candida sp, filamentous fungi and also against bacteria, mainly Gram-positive cocci, making it highly efficient in the treatment of polymicrobial infections. It offers a dual fungistatic and fungicidal activity, with a long permanence in the skin. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effect. It is generally well tolerated, with a few adverse events and a good efficacy in superficial mycoses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
