Abstract

The aim of this paper was to analyze technological advances in the manufacturing industry of the State of Paraná from the 2000s. The paper argues that technological advances were decisive for changes in the manufacturing industry from the 2000s. The theoretical framework employed was the Schumpeterian approach about innovation, and its impacts on the representativeness of each group of technological intensity. As methodological procedure, we used the collection of data on added value, employment, research and development, which were organized in tables and graphs for analysis. The results showed that the group which has the largest market share is the low technological intensity, between 2000 and 2012, because of the importance of the primary sector. This group is composed of the sectors of food and beverage, wood and furniture, paper and cellulose. There was also increased representation of the added value of the medium-high technological intensity group, which raised its market share in the period. In fact, highlighting the industry of automotive vehicles, trailers and semitrailers, the sector that contributed most to the transformations occurred in the State of Paraná. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
