Abstract

Currently, the increase in livestock productive capacity in previously explored areas is essential while looking for economical sustainability. Strategies such as crop-livestock system have been developed aiming at optimizing the land use and yield. The success of this technological solution depends on several factors concerning animal and vegetal production. In animal production, the main factors are the suitable genetic resource, handling, and nutritional plan. With the increase in meat products demand to attend more demanding customers, the production chain is willing to offer ascertained quality products with sustainable production, in order to increase the reliability and, consequently, to increase the trade of this products. This paper aims to review the literature involving the research in crop-livestock system, searching for its specific focus on the animal component inside these productive systems. In animal factor, the objective was to review studies involving cattle, encompassing the nutritional aspects and the genetic resources used. A bibliographic review was conducted including scientific journals and public and private entities with relevant data on the subject. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
