Abstract

The article discusses a study which examined how some people in Tibet, China, are able to live successfully at extreme elevations. The study conducted genetic analysis of human remains discovered at the 14,000-foot-high site of Chusang which demonstrated human survival some 7,000 years ago. The researchers found that many in Tibet have genetic characteristics that enable them to survive in elevated environments.
