Abstract

The article comments on an article by Evelyn Fox Keller, published within the issue, which calls for the development of a verb-based linguistic framework for biology. Topics discussed include the reasons Keller considers a verb-based language better for biology writing and research than a noun-based one and the author's assertion that Keller's comparison between Chinese and Western languages as used in science is an invalid analogy for encouraging a revision of English scientific language.
