Abstract

This paper presents the experimental testing results of a novel triple-state sorption chiller with integrated cold storage. The performance of the chiller was measured for hot water inlet temperatures between 65 °C and 95 °C, heat rejection inlet temperatures between 15 °C and 35 °C, and chilled water inlet temperatures between 10 °C and 25 °C. An empirical model was developed for implementation in the TRaNsient SYstem Simulation (TRNSYS) software. To validate the model, a five-hour experimental charge test was conducted during which the hot water and heat rejection inlet temperatures were continuously varied. The model was able to predict the total heat input and heat rejection energy to within 0.7% and 1.3% of the experimentally measured values, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
