Abstract
- The article presents information on allergic contact dermatitis from Verbena officinalis L. After identifying the plant as Verbena officinalis L., patch tests were carried out with parts of the fresh plant, and with aqueous and ether extracts of the whole plant. The flower, leaf and ether extract elicited positive (+ +) reactions at 4 days, while no reaction was observed to the stem or the aqueous extract. Patch tests with the fresh plant were negative in 10 controls. No cases have been observed by the authors, in spite of the frequent use of this plant among the population of this area, and the peculiar way of application with skin maceration induced by the above-mentioned verbena omelette.
