Abstract

The article focuses on primula dermatitis. The versatility in the clinical presentation of primula dermatitis and the advantages of patch tests with synthetic primin have been discussed. In the past decade, synthetic primin at 0.0 1% pet, has been widely used to diagnose primula sensitization. Synthetic primin is preferable to an extract of the plant for various reasons. These are standardization, decreased risk of active sensitization, avoidance of irritant and false-positive reactions, and of seasonal variation in the allergenicity of the plant.
