This article discusses the extension of civil and human rights to indigenous groups in the Americas. The author comments on the role of the United Nations, the Organization of American States, and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in the expansion of rights to indigenous peoples. The Convention 169 of the International Labour Organization on this topic is also explored.
