Comparison of probability of failure and collapse frequency of bridges This paper compares the collapse frequency of bridges with the goal values of the probability of failure according to modern codes of practice. The estimation of the collapse frequency is based on the review of existing publications related to different regions and different times in terms of a meta-analysis. Furthermore goal values of the probability of failure for new and existing structures are discussed in short. The comparison reveals a good agreement between the goal values and the observed values.
