Abstract: The article discusses a research study on an IMI-2 carbapenemase in a Klebsiella variicola strain isolated in Great Britain. The strain was isolated from an intensive therapy unit patient in 2011 from a soft tissue infection of the buttock. It is stated that this is the first report of an IMI carbapenemase outside of the Enterobacter cloacae complex in Britain.
