Abstract

The article discusses demystification of some of the basics of bibliometrics. Topics discussed include citations as the basic building block for bibliometrics that are equated with the value, quality and impact of article, skewing of samples or databases in any number of directions such as heavily weighted toward disciplines which have higher scores than social work; and journal performance indicators such as featured in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
