Abstract
- The article analyzes the short story "Benito Cereno" by Herman Melville is presented, and it mentions how Melville deals with issues such as racial perception and polygenism in his writing. Politics, slavery, and culture in literature are addressed, along with the literary theme of evil and the relationship between "Benito Cereno" and abolitionists in American history. The experiences of sea traders and black slaves on a Spanish vessel in 1799 are assessed.
