Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the contribution of hearingimpaired resource rooms concerning the teaching-learning process of geography for deaf students. Initially, the history of special education in Brazil will be presented, as well as the assignments of the resource room, the necessary requirement for teachers who intend to work with this segment of education and the main laws and reflections on the inclusion of deaf students in school. A suggestion of an activity developed with deaf students in the hearing-impaired resource room at CEF 08 of Gama city will be presented in connection with the teaching and learning of Brazilian regions and their respective states using action-research as a methodology. From the use of the components mentioned previously, it is intended to promote a more meaningful and interesting learning for deaf students, seeking to associate visual and communication aspects in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), during the development of geography classes.
