Abstract: The article discusses the State Bar of California Standing Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct's issuance of Formal Opinion No. 2016-196 which is designed to provide attorneys with guidance regarding various aspects of blogs, blog posts, and other forms of blogging activity, and it mentions the difference between lawyer-related noncommercial information and advertising. U.S. freedom of speech rights and the blog-based case Hunter v. Virginia State Bar ex. rel. are assessed.
