Abstract

The authors comment on Alice Bloch's commentary on their paper which looked at how the political repertoires of sending states were changing in response to migration. Topics covered include the changing form and function of the nation-state, the rise in multiple memberships, be they dual citizenship or some form of partial membership without residence, and the deployment of diasporic policies to consolidate emigrants' attachments and contributions to their homelands.
