Abstract
- An editorial is presented on a study within the issue on use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy in treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. Topics discussed include analysis of use of inhaled pulmonary vasodilators and neuromuscular blockade, higher mortality of patients diagnosed with fungal pneumonia than those diagnosed with bacterial or viral pneumonias, and change in management of and support for patients with severe respiratory failure.
