Focuses on the necessity to evaluate sustainable interventions for prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV type 1 infection. Evaluation on different concentration of chlorhexidine (CHX) for perinatal maternal and infant washes; Identification of the maximum tolerable concentration of CHX for the intervention; Reduction of the overall maternal and infant morbidity and mortality.
