Abstract

The central problem to develop in this work is the relation between freedom and war in Jean Paul Sartre philosophy, to the extent that, war necessarily entails the elimination of the Other and the risk of one’s own existence, therefore, the potential elimination of freedom as fundamental and distinctive ontological element of the subjects. To do this I perform a relational analysis of the Sartre proposal exposed in Being and Nothingness with the development that the author offers in three of his plays: The Devil and the Good Lord, The kidnapped of Altona and Dirty Hands; with the objective of showing the critical scope of Sartre against war and the possibilities of generating in/since the war, self-consciousness and projects of resistance in subjects.
