Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the main geo-environmental aspects of the municipality of São José dos Campos/SP, which can be considered impediments to the effective implementation of the land use regularization process in Special Areas of Social Interest (ZEIS) that have environmental characteristics of high susceptibility to landslide occurrence. For this, some geological and geotechnical data were collected and analyzed, as well as technical and legal standards related to theme and anthropogenic factors that maximize landslide occurrence. It was found that: some ZEIS are situated on lands characterized as areas with risk of landslides; most landslides have occurred in areas classified as ZEIS; both the absence of urban infrastructure systems and the non-application of the technical and legal standards of land use planning contribute considerably to the occurrence of landslides; there is a need to implement natural disaster management devices present in the current legislation on the land regularization process of ZEIS in the municipality.
