Abstract

The article reflects on the need for occupational health physicians to develop and implement interventions to address needs of workers in non-traditional employment relationships. It mentions that gig businesses deny having an employer relationship or the responsibility to follow labor laws and so they do not provide benefits like health or workers' compensation insurance. It also highlights challenges to estimate people employed by the gig economy as a whole.
