Abstract

First discovery of sympatric paromomyid species in Europe. The Conde´-en-Brie locality (Aisne, France – MP8+9), the richest in the Paris Basin Early Eocene, allows us to study morphological and biometrical variability of the paromomyid assemblage. Their high range of variation suggests the presence of two close species, attributed to Arcius fuscus and A. lapparenti. This is the first evidence of sympatric paromomyid species in Europe.
