Abstract
- The article throws light on the life and works of physician P. Meera Khan who died on April 1, 1998. He was born into a middle class background in rural Andhra Pradesh, India. His father was a general practitioner and although he died when Meera Khan was still very young, His positive remembrance of those times was sufficient to convince him to become a medical practitioner himself. His marriage with Prabha was touched by the fervent religious tensions of India in the mid 1950s. He expanded his research to somatic cell genetics, gene mapping, gene nomenclature and familial colon cancer.
