Abstract: The article focuses on the impact of library summer reading program (SRP) incentives and rewards on reading motivation. Topics discussed include the effect of extrinsic rewards on young readers in public library summer reading programs in New York and Ohio, the view of parents on the rewards, and the stimulation of curiosity and imagination of young readers by public librarians.
