Abstract
- The article informs that the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has announced on December 25, 2016 that the Liaoning (CV-16) aircraft carrier battle group had set off for a combat readiness deployment to the Western Pacific under the supervision of outgoing Navy Chief Admiral Wu Shen-gli. It is noted that some argue that any U.S. military reporting about Liaoning's flight operations could amplify China's strategic messaging about the importance of the carrier.
