Abstract

One type 2 diabetic patient over the age of 65 in two is carrying severe micro- or macrovascular complications. An evaluation of the good clinical practice of medical follow-up of type 2 diabetes was carried out over a year in the Department of Medicine at the Hospital of Valenciennes to measure the follow-up of the recommendations of the French Health Authorities (known as HAS in France). It was found that none of the 75 patients included received a full follow-up before admission to the service. A large proportion of these patients with one or more complications did not benefit from multidisciplinary care. The quantitative estimation of microalbuminuria was only done for 30.6% of the hospitalized and the determination of quarterly glycated hemoglobin levels in 58.1%. The main reasons are the lack of medical prescriptions and, when they are made, their non-compliance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
