Abstract

The article discusses the implication of providing information to patients regarding costs of emergency department routine HIV screening tests in the U.S., based on a survey among patients at Albany Medical Center in New York City from June 2013 through July 2014. The variables cited in the survey include demographic characteristics, willingness of patients to have an HIV test, and percentage of patients with health care insurance. An expert working group was convened to assist HIV patients.
