Abstract

Five acylation derivatives ( 1a- 1e) were prepared by acylation of cytochalasin B ( 1), which was isolated from the marine-derived fungus Curvularia lunata. Compound 1 and its acylation derivatives 1a- 1e were evaluated for their antiviral and cytotoxic activities in vitro. In particular, compound 1e exhibited potent antiviral activity against HSV and EV71 with IC values of 29.5 and 21.4 μM, respectively, which were 4-fold and 11-fold stronger than that of the positive control, ribavirin.
