Abstract

The article focuses on the journal ACM Computing Surveys. The main difference between a survey paper and tutorial paper published in the journal are emphasis and audience. A survey paper assumes its audience has a general knowledge of the field. A tutorial assumes its audience as inexpert. Most of the papers published in the journal combines the two approaches. The journal prefers papers that meet the minimum standards. A standard of first importance is technical accuracy, quality and clarity. The format for typing the manuscripts have been provided. The journal's policy is to own the copyrights in its technical publications. This protects its authors and employers and facilitates the proper use of the material by others. Each author of an accepted paper is required to sign the journal's copyright form as a condition of publication. Private authors retain all proprietary rights other than copyright such as patent rights. They retain the right to use any part of the article with proper acknowledgement to the journal.
