Practice Guidelines as Implementation Science: The Journal Editors' Perspective.

The authors reflect on the practice guidelines of the 2016 edition of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign focusing on the accurate implementation of the guidelines. They discuss the role of the journal, its reviewers and editors in the providing actionable information to the health care setting, the development and refinement of the guideline, and expectation of editors for readers and users to challenge the guidelines and its goal to improve patient care.
