Abstract

Immunoassay is an emerging technique that has been used in the fields of food and environmental analysis to monitor and control hazardous residues. Multianalyte immunoassays (MAIAs) are favored because they can simultaneously determine several targets in a single test. In this review, an overview of various formats for the MAIA is given. New trends on how to produce antibodies, how to improve antibody specificity and how to manipulate assay formats to obtain the desired multi-analysis schemes are summarized. Finally, the limitations and prospects of MAIAs are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
