Abstract
- The author comments on a study that examined contextual factors that influence care being left undone by nurses in Great Britain and Sweden. She discusses the finding that registered nurses supervise a significant proportion of direct patient care and its implications for the practice of delegation in nursing in British acute hospitals. She also describes the defences used by nurses in dealing with the anxiety of caring for the sick.
