Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of teaching self-care skills to mentally retarded children with the song. 5 mentally retarded students participated in the research as the subjects. One of the students was chosen for the pilot study, while the other one was chosen as a subject of substitution. Hence, this study was carried out with 3 students with mental retardation. The model of multiple probe design between subjects that take places in research models of single subject design was used in this study. This study consists of four phases: probe, teaching, generalization and observation. As a result of this research, it is observed that teaching self-care skills with the song is an effective way for children with mental retardation. Moreover, those children, which have already acquired the relevant skill, can perform it regardless of the song. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
