Abstract

The community management (TPU) traditional production units are at risk by urban growth, they holds the subsistence economy offering products and environmental services. In Morelos 54.4%, concentrates the urban agglomeration between 1200 and 1800 of altitude. The question was is it possible the ethnobotanical information evidence adjustments to the structure and tree composition of traditional fruit home-gardens in Yautepec, against territorial fragmentation? On the assumption that the ethnobotanical information it will refer the dynamics of fruit species of the TPU facing land-use changes. The methodology consisted in systematizing the features of the home-gardens under the pressure of the increase of the population above the State average in the period 1970-2010. Quadrants were applied in eight traditional fruit home-gardens with average area of 300 m2, determined species richness, abundance, frequency and the Shannon diversity index. Interviews, contributed the vernacular name, uses values and the fate of the production. That there are three fragments, the urban, the transformed and the tropical deciduous forest. The home-gardens have been reduced in number and surface; contain a high diversification, 40 species exotic 18 and 22 native. The species richness and abundance are determined by the values of use: food 60%, ornamental 22% and medicinal 20%. The production is sustained throughout the year; the destination is the self-production and marketing. Some especies were sell on local market, such as: nanche, copal, the cuahulote, avocado, colorín, the cuajinicuil, the white guaje, guava and the guamuchil. Other ones were addressed to national markets, such as: coffee, mango, chicozapote and plum.
