The article concerns the results of the research carried out by Stefano Parenti, Professor of Eastern Liturgies at the Pontifical University of Saint Anselm in Rome. It deals with the retrieval of the euchologion of Galàtone (dating from the 12th century), an interesting Italian-Greek review of the Byzantine liturgical tradition, which had been lost for the first half of the 20th century. The first part of the article describes the procedure adopted by Parenti to achieve a precise retrieval and identification of the euchologion, in its new and recent place (the Duke University Library of Durham in North Carolina). Afterwards, the article offers a general analysis of the sections which make up the euchologion, taking advantage of the reports written by historians who dealt with it when it was kept in the parish archive in Galàtone. Lastly, a future analysis of the specific content of the euchologion is anticipated, but it will be carried out provided that a tangible use of the euchologion is allowed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
