Abstract

The article explores the advantages and disadvantages of microhistory and microcosm with regard to globalization, the Spanish Empire, Chinese migrants, and globalization in Manila, Philippines. An overview of Manila in the 17th century is provided which was colonized by Spain that led to radical transformation. Also discussed are Chinese migrants' writings, the trade activities of Chinese migrants in the Philippines, and the relation between Chinese and Spaniards in the Philippines.
